Getting the most out of your vehicle’s fuel efficiency

November 13, 2011

In today’s economy driving can be a costly experience, and as a result not only are we concerned more than ever about the price at the gas pump, but also how fuel efficient our vehicle is. Many drivers limit how often they travel, carpool, or simply try to make sure that they do as much as they can during one trip as possible, just to save on money. However, for those who have to drive back and forth to work, they simply don’t have a choice.

There are ways a driver can help to ensure that their vehicle is getting the best fuel efficiency possible. For one, make sure that your tires are properly inflated; low tires can add drag and reduce the amount of miles you can get per gallon. Another way to help is to utilize a specialized computer chip in your vehicle called a performance chip. This is a tuning chip that goes into the car’s electronic control unit, or ECU, and will enhance the vehicle’s performance by giving it more power, better and cleaner emissions, and ultimately help it to become more fuel efficient.

For example, if you were driving a F150, which is not necessarily known for its high miles per gallon. By inserting F150 performance chips you can alter the ECU on board and raise the fuel efficiency by as much as 7 mpg. In addition to this, you can also raise the trucks horsepower by as much as 60HP.

F150 performance chips and their original counterparts were first introduced on the market in the late 1970s, but became popular and more widely used in the 80s and 90s. Now as technology continues to advance so does our ability to control the performance levels of our vehicles. The modern ECU, in conjunction with the remarkable engine technology we have today, enable us to control functioning aspects to the engine such as fuel injection, spark timing, electronic throttle, valve timing, ABS, automatic transmission, electronic stability control, boost control, and if your vehicle has it installed you can even control a speed governor.

The enhancement to your vehicles performance comes from F150 performance chips adjusting how high the ignition timing advance is. It is important to note that in order to avoid pre-ignition detonation when adjusting your timing to a higher rate you will need to use a higher octane fuel. Each vehicle manufacturer will design their car to run with a particular timing, and altering this with out compensating will actually decrease your performance.

Utilizing F150 performance chips can help to not only boost your trucks fuel efficiency, but also give you a better harder working machine. Don’t settle for mediocre when you can now take control of your automobile and get the most out of it.

hi Gay, i bet these performance chips are expensive, but if they provide me with the comfort and fuel efficiency is achieved, then i guess the price is worth it. nice post. and oh, how i wish i have a car like that. hehehe.

does it mean that those chips are not inclusive when you buy a truck like that? additional expense eh.

Performance chips on cars are a new innovation. I didn’t even know our car has one. We went to a car shop that has this computer machine to check on the parts of our car, something plug will be connected in our car from their computer and voila, it knows what damages we got in our car. Amazing how machines are advanced for cars these days. That way, if you know how to fix the part damaged in your car, you can save money rather than going directly to professional car mechanic.

I will definitely remember what you said in this post, it will be useful whenever we plan to buy a cur in the future.

Won’t the expense for the chips negate the savings in fuel?

That was a helpful chip. Microchips makes life easy. ^^.
info: the price of 1 liter gasoline is lower than 1 liter of water in Brunei. Around B$.50 against B$1.00.

Where is the Filipino inventor named Daniel Dingel nowadays? What happen to his water-run car invention?

Hey Gagay! This is the first time that I’m hearing about a performance chip for the car. I don’t know much of cars either (as I don’t drive). But I’m sure this will help keep vehicles working efficiently. If I may add, this chip would certainly be very beneficial to the environment if it gives out cleaner emissions.

Another new learning. I never knew there was a chip like that that existed! Thanks for sharing!

  26. marri on April 5, 2012 at 8:58 pm

if only we can do walking instead of riding a car… why not but we cannot. oil prices really soar higher and higher and nothing we can do about that but to think of ways to at least cut-off our usage.

this are great tips. thanks for sharing. :)

  27. Cha on April 6, 2012 at 9:17 am

We definitely want that chip to be installed in out car! Where and how much is this F150 performance chip?

  28. rc gweniful on April 6, 2012 at 8:35 pm

naku, i’ll do anything to conserve gas and energy but that too is often expensive…
